I’m thrilled to announce that I was awarded the Bay Area Theatre Critic’s Circle Award for Performance by aFemale Actor in a Featured Role for my tole in Assassins.

Assassins itself won 8 of the 10 awards it was nominated for.  I’m humbled and very grateful for the experience and for the recognition.

I have been asked to perform an excerpt from my solo show, “Befriending Shirley, or The Voice in My Head Is a B*tch!” at the Women in Solidarity festival at All Terrain Theater in April.  There will be 3 solo female works on the program.  The program is part of the International Home Theatre Festival and will be performed at a home in Berkeley on April 27, 28 and 29.  More info to come on tickets, etc.  but for now you can learn more about All Terrain Theatre at their website: www.allterraintheater.org

I’m so thrilled to announce that I have been nominated for a Bay Area Theatre Critic’s Circle award for playing Sarah Jane Moore in Assassins at Ray of Light Theatre!

The production itself was nominated for 13 awards, including Best Entire Production.

I was also nominated as part of the chorus of Russian peasants in Beardo at Shotgun Players for Best Ensemble.

So many friends and colleagues were nominated, I couldn’t list them all here, but CONGRATULATIONS to all the nominees.  You can find the list at the BATCC website.

I will be spending my summer in the Rocky Mountains!  I have been cast as the title character in “The Drowsy Chaperone” at Creede Repertory Theatre in Creede, CO.  They have been around for 47 years in this sleepy town of about 400.  I have been wanting to work in a repertory theatre for quite a while now, and I am so pleased that I will get the chance.  And “Drowsy” (a euphemism for drunk) is a HOOT!

Maybe you can take a summer vacation to the mountains and join me…

You can learn more about the company here: www.creederep.org

I am excited and humbled to say that I was a part of 3, count ‘em THREE, shows that were listed in Talkin’ Broadway’s Richard Connema’s favorite musicals of 2011.  Congratulations to Assassins, Oh Kay! and Beardo - all on the top ten list. http://www.talkinbroadway.com/allthatchat/d.php?id=2035365

I was also personally listed as one of Richard’s favorite female performers of 2011 along with my cohort in crime, Eliza Leoni, for Assassins.  http://www.talkinbroadway.com/allthatchat/d.php?id=2035367

Another show I was a part of, “Taming of the Shrew” at Cal Shakes, was listed as a top 2011 production in Chad Jones’ Theatre Dogs: http://www.theaterdogs.net/2011/12/29/2011-in-the-rearview-mirror-the-best-of-bay-area-stages/

I am very excited to announce that I will be playing Velma Van Tussle, the mean and bitchy producer of the “Corny Collins Show” in HAIRSPRAY!  directed by the fantastic Amanda Folena at Broadway by the Bay in Redwood City.  It runs April 5-22 at the Fox Theatre in Redwood City.  More info to come!

I will be singing the Alto solos in the Sing-it-yourself-Messiah with the San Francisco Sinfonietta conductedby Urs Leonhardt Steiner on December 5, 7:30pm at the Mission Dolores Basilica in San Francisco.  I’m unbelievably excited to do this.  Tickets are available at City Box Office.

My latest project has me playing Constance Appleton, the ill-fated fiance of Jimmy Winter, an upper-class playboy during the prohibition era.  The show is a hoot, with a fantastic cast of singers and dancers at The Eureka Theatre.  Previews begin on November 2, officially opening on November 5.  The show only runs through November 20, so get your tickets soon.  You can order tickets through 42nd Street Moon’s website here.

I am understudying several roles in “Taming of the Shrew” at California Shakespeare Theater in Orinda.  The show begins previews on Sept. 21 and closes October 16.  I will be spending this week on the stage standing in during tech rehearsals and I couldn’t be more excited about it.  Check it out if you can at http://www.calshakes.org/.  Stay tuned to see if I get to go on in a performance…
